Brij Wines 'Freund', Gruner Vetliner, 2022, 750ml

Brij is a new brand from Raj Parr. Although he has leased the Stolo Family Vineyards in Cambria for his Phelan Farm label, Brij is focused on wines made from purchased fruit. This lineup includes varietal wines like Assyrtiko, Albariño, Gruner Veltliner, Syrah and Grenache, with the goal of using little to no added sulfur. The nose opens with a pleasing touch of smoky reduction that gives way to poached pears and apples, honey and spicy undertones. The medium-bodied palate features concentrated, exotic fruit balanced by mouthwatering acidity, and a pleasing touch of textural grip lengthens the flavorful finish. This is a pleasure to drink!
