The NV Brut Nature Les Houtrants Complantés is a blend of the seven permitted varieties in Champagne, done in a perpetual reserve with 2014 as the youngest vintage an 2008 as the oldest. Brisk and yet also quite resonant, the Houtrants shows why blends can be so compelling. There is a feeling of completeness here that is very much evident but also hard to describe fully. Sweet floral notes meld into dried pear, dried lemon zest, herbs and chamomile. In this edition, the Houtrants is a bit quiet and understated, but that in no way detracts from its considerable beauty. Zero dosage.
