Description

This winery was founded in 1975 by two friends, Mario Pojer and Fiorentino Sandri, with the goal of proving that an untested viticulture region, between the Adige river and the Cembra valley, was capable of producing world class wines. 100% Pinot Nero, or Pinot Noir. Grown in three parcels above Faedo; Rocol (300 meters), Rodel Pianezzi (500 meters) & Palai (700 meters), these vineyards benefit from the constant wind off of Lake Garda. The vineyards are planted to a density of 6200-6500 vines per hectare in soils containing sandstone, siltstone, rocky loam, limestone & dolomite. The clones are a mix of Italian and Burgundian. With a bouquet of wild berries, raspberries & strawberries, this garnet colored wine is both generous and exciting. Bright acidity backs up the the classic pinot fruit with just enough earthy notes. The taste is similar to the bouquet, the fruit is generous and exciting: a light berry quality along with zesty acidity and mild tannins.
