Hiyu Tzum Fionn “Spring Ephemeral” Columbia Valley Red Wine, 2024, 750ml

Zinfandel from a steep and rocky hillside above Aine and Arion. The vines struggle in the rock and shoots rarely reach the wire.

This is harvested at very low sugars as the leaves turn gold and fall in their struggle with the rock. No one could guess that this is Zinfandel. It’s pale, vibrant, absurdly floral and aromatic and utterly refreshing at 11% alcohol. This is made like the Columba and Aura; fermented until it reaches a peak of color and perfume, but pressed before the tannins rise. It is intended to be served chilled. This is darker in color than its companion Solais, more overtly floral, higher in acidity but not quite as concentrated or complex…. It doesn't matter. It's absurdly delicious.
